March 21st/22nd

Do Now:

What is the solubility of the three solutes in the given amount of solvent (H20)?

Students first found the mass of the solute by subtracting out the solvent from the solution. Since the Solvent used in class was water, it was okay to say 50g instead of 50mL. Water has a density of 1g/mL so 1g of water takes up 1mL of space. Once they found the mass of the solute dissolved, the students then calculated the solubility (Solute dissolved by mass of solute).

After we finished the lab, some students went back to lab 13 to finish measuring the solubility of salt and sugar in water. For those students who did finish 13 last class, they started lab 15 in which they separate the solution by using a filtering technique.

The students turned in their paperwork for lab 13 today. Lab 15 will be collected next week. These will be the final two grades for the 3rd MP. Finish strong!!!!
