Properties of Matter
By the end of today's class, we should understand the similarities and differences between the 3 phases of matter here on Earth (Solids, Liquids, and Gases). We will look at the particles that make up each phase (temperature, energy, movement, spacing).
Will will begin to understand how to find the mass and volume of Solids, Liquids, and Gases. For all objects, we will use an electronic balance to find the object's mass. For some objects we will use a ruler to find volume, but for others we will use a Graduated Cylinder.
The students will practice finding the mass of solids. Liquids will be later next week.
This will eventually lead to our investigation of density!
