March 5th/6th

On behalf of the Cast and Crew of Willy Wonka, I would like to thank you all for the support you have given me both this weekend and over the past few weeks. With the High School production, a 19 month old, and a pregnant wife at home...my life has been rather hectic. Now that things are calming down, I am ready for the home stretch of the school year. Should be a good one!

Reminder...Field trip permission slips due THIS FRIDAY!!!

Do Now: What is the Periodic Table of Elements? Is there anything about it for which you are already familiar?

Read article in book entitled "Bicycle Ingredients". This article forces us to discuss the dilemma of creating a product with "Strength, weight, and price" in mind. There is usually a trade-off that exists in making such a decision. To sacrifice strength would lower the price. This article will help the students with their cube project.

Afterwards, we moved into the Periodic Table and briefly talked about what it is. We watched two videos on YouTube that feature songs naming all the elements of the periodic table...they are little catchy and the students wanted me to play them again.

We finished the class by beginning to fill in a note worksheet of 25 more common elements. The students are just getting an entry level discussion about the table. They will not need to memorize any atomic #s or weights.
